CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I - TITLE AND OBJECT
SECTION 1. This organization shall be known as Huron Valley Numismatic Society [HVNS].
SECTION 2. The object of HVNS shall be to encourage and dispense numismatic knowledge to collectors and those interested in becoming collectors and to cultivate fraternity among its members.
SECTION 3. HVNS shall proceed towards membership in the American Numismatic Association and Michigan State Numismatic Society upon majority vote.
SECTION 4. HVNS may sponsor and promote “coin shows” to raise funds for the stated objectives of this Society.
SECTION 5. HVNS may conduct numismatic item and material auctions within its membership.
ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP
SECTION 1. Any person over eighteen years of age shall be considered for full HVNS Membership and entitled to one vote; individuals under eighteen years of age shall be eligible for junior membership without voting entitlement.
ARTICLE III – OFFICERS
SECTION 1. HVNS officers shall include a Chair, Program Chair, Secretary/Treasurer and five [5] Board of Directors, two whom shall be nominated and elected at each annual meeting and shall serve for two years. The immediate Past Chair is to become an automatic member of the board until the next chair replaces this person.
SECTION 2. Responsibility of Directors
· BOD 1: Membership (finding ways for us to grow)
· BOD 2: Publicity (printed material, Outreach programs)
· BOD 3: Historian of HVNS (keeping an accurate record of who we are, where we have been and why)
· BOD 4: Education (library, scouts, etc.)
· BOD 5: Coin Shows (This person is responsible for our coin shows and securing outside shows for us to host)
SECTION 3. Officers and Directors may stand for re-election in said office for one term, Secretary/Treasurer for two terms.
SECTION 4. Officer or Director vacancy shall be immediately filled by nomination and election by members in good standing in accordance with established procedure.
SECTION 5. Any member of one year in good standing shall be eligible for office.
ARTICLE IV – AMENDMENTS
SECTION 1. This constitution may be amended by a three-fourths majority vote involving all members.
SECTION 2. Amendments may not be voted upon during the same meeting at which they are proposed.
SECTION 3. Members absent from meeting at which amendment voting is scheduled may vote by written and dated proxy received by Secretary/Treasurer prior to election.
